In 1922—three years after the founding of the first Waldorf school—Hans Stockmar established his company in Kaltenkirchen, specializing in beekeeping supplies and beeswax candles; he later adopted the new quality standards for educational materials formulated by that school. The impetus for the wax crayons came largely from Hans Stockmar’s sons—including Anselm Stockmar—who transferred the company into the Neuguss group in the 1980s.
